Director Assad's service in law enforcement and security span over 40 years at the Federal and local level. He was with the U. S. Marshal Service for 29 years serving as Chief Deputy U. S. Marshal and regional Inspector for the President's New England Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force. He also served as a member of the U.S. Marshals Service Special Operations Group (SOG).
He served as Lieutenant Commander of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Police Department from 2001 to 2007. Since 2008, he has been operating his own private investigation and security consulting business.
He has published articles on topics such as terrorism and weapons. He has developed a network of public and private contacts in the law enforcement and security communities throughout the world.
He is a graduate of the 126 Session of the FBI National Academy. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Boston Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners.
He is certified in Homeland Security from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the American Board for certification in Homeland Security.
He has an undergraduate degree in both Criminal Justice and Security Administration from Northeastern University.

He has been specially trained in special operations, dignitary protection and is certified as a drug recognition expert. He is a graduate of Westfield State College with a degree in Criminal Justice.
